The Bare Necessities

The bare necessities
I am the Vice President of an MSU's campus chapter for TOMS shoes. We organized a bare foot walk to raise awareness for the children around the world who go without shoes each day. We urged people to go barefoot all day not only to raise awareness. but also see how difficult a day without shoes really is. April 8, was World Wide day without shoes. Social issues are extremely important to me and something I want to instill in my students. The State News wrote an article about our walk and our chapter. I was extremely happy about this because more people could learn about this issue I am very passionate about!

  1. I think it is great to be so involved with something as beneficial as TOMS shoes. I was bummed to when I was unable to make it to the barefoot walk that you had announced in the classes that we have together. I hope that it was a success!

  2. I saw this article and thought of you! I was also running the trail and saw a sign for TOMS and thought of the walk. I was in class during the walk, but I hope it went well and was a success for a great cause!

  3. It is so awesome that you are involved with this! I think encouraging students to be civic-minded and engaged in their world is so important, and something we really need to help with as teachers.
